Born: 26 Jan 1884 in Bohemia CZ
Died: 22 Aug 1963 at Rusk, TX
Married: 21 Nov 1915 to Selma Nowotnik (there is a multitude of different spellings on her last name) Married at St Paul's Lutheran Church, The Grove, TexasThe marriage license spelled
his last name as "Barron"
Now I am going to give you a little more detail as to why I know so little about my grandfather. My father was born in 1918. When he was 9 years old his father, Frank, shot and wounded his wife, Selma and killed his brother in law. It was determined that he had a mental breakdown and remained in a mental institution until he died in 1963 when I was 16. I believe that I may have saw him once when I very young when my father would visit him. My father therefore had very little first hand information about my father.
Any knowledge I have about my father's immediate family is second and third hand information and is somewhat questionable. Here are a few pieces that I remember (or think that I remember) Frank was in the German army and also worked with explosives. If that is true he may have used that knowledge where he lived in Texas. That area is very rocky and covered with ash juniper. Farmers and ranchers would sometimes have to use dynamite to remove large boulders and tree stumps.
Frank came to Texas with a cousin and they jumped ship in Galveston which would indicate they were crew members and not passengers. But that contradicts the passenger manifest.
S pozdravem,
Miloš Beran
