New at GenTeam:

1 Diocese Passau: approximately 80,000 new entries

2 Basic Dominion records: a few additional records

3 Index of Viennese Catholic Baptisms: Approx. 82,000 new records

4 New: Index of Catholic death records in Vienna: still in the beginning stages

5 Register Indices from Lower and Upper Austria and Moravia: Approximately 160,000 new records

Detailněji:
1. Diocese Passau, Germany:

Approximately 80,000 new entries

Of the approximate 2.4 million register entries of the Passau Diocese

about 440,000 are marriages and are complete, about 1,1 million are baptisms, and the remainder are deaths. In this data base you will find parish, volume, page number, surname, given name, date / year of event, not always profession, and place of residence. You will find the parish registers of the dioceses itself online at
www.matricula-online.eu. A table of the parishes with reviewed time frames and important tips you will find under Hilfe/Info (Help / Information).

The Archive of the Diocese of Passau and GenTeam really appreciate transmission of all corrections, as well as all the new records.

2. Manorial Records:

Few new entries

Karin Scharrer and Christoph Tietz furnished the inventory protocols of Bad Kreuzen (located in Upper Austria) and the citizens rolls of Niederhermesdorf and Weigelsdorf in Moravia. Thank you.

3. Baptismal Index for Vienna for the years 1585 to 1900:

Approximately 82,000 new entries, approximately 710,000 records already online
The following records from these parishes were added: 01 Hofburg, 01 St. Augustin, 01 St. Barbara (Greek Catholic), 01 St. Peter, 01 Schotten, 03 Rennweg, 03 St. Marx, 04, St. Elisabeth, 04 St. Karl, 05 St. Florian (Matzleinsdorf), 05 St. Josef Margareten, 06 Gumpendorf, 07 Schottenfeld, 08 Mariatreu (Piarists) 08 Breitenfeld, and 18 Währing. Besides St. Stephan and Schotten parishes, all the inner city parishes between 1784 and 1900 are completely indexed.

4. New: Index of Catholic death records in Vienna

With the successful start of the Baptismal Index, GenTeam also began to index Catholic burials. To begin with GenTeam will post online the death registries of the hospitals St. Marx and Elisabethinen, the Garnison’s hospital and the Waisenhaus (Orphanage) am Rennweg. It will be a full version of all relevant information. Additional records are in the works for indexing.

I would like to thank especially Marta Melchart for these entries.

U osob z Rakouska najdete odkaz, v jaké matrice tuto osobu najdete. U hledané obce stojí příslušná fara. Genteam zaujímá oblast Rakousko, Čechy, Morava a České Slezko.

najdeš tam občas ztracené předky kolem 1850- 1939(45) (myslím) ve smutečních oznámeních a z nich vyšpekuluješ krásně rodinné vztahy... např. měla jsem fotku hrobu z Nového židovské hřbitova a nevěděla jsem, kdo to tam je a bibi mi tenkrát našla oznámení, kde jsou všechna jména i s rodinnými vztahy.... viewtopic.php?f=16&t=9177&hilit=irma+stern
jasně, chce to kousek štěstí, ale proč to nezkusit?

- Gazetteer of Slovakia (including Ruthenia)
1 Military: Austro-Hungarian casualty lists 1914-1919

7 Indices of Roman Catholic church registers for Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Styria,

Salzburg and Bohemia
Dear researchers,
About this update: GenTeam is celebrating its tenth anniversary!

On January 10, 2010, GenTeam went online with approximately 1.3 million entries (index of Roman Catholic marriages of Vienna, several indices for Lower Austria, owners of building plots in Lower Austria, Gazetteer for Austria, Bohemia, Moravia and Slovenia). Since then, more than 19 million entries have been added. The database has thus grown to more than 20.4 million records. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to this project!

The number of registered and active users has also continually increased and has now reached 50,000. They all benefit from free access to all data without having to pay any membership fees.

Gazetteer: Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, South Tyrol

Thanks to the great work of Mag. Ingrid Schuster, approximately 4,500 locations for today’s Slovakia as well as Ruthenia were added to the GenTeam Gazetteer in November 2019. This database now comprises more than 76,000 locations in Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, South Tyrol and Slovenia with information on the respective Roman Catholic parish, any previous parishes, the year the registers begin, as well as the respective archive.

Just like with all other GenTeam databases, the Gazetteer allows to enter parts of a name. The autocomplete function is therefore an easy solution to solving the problems of variations in orthography!

Dear researchers,
About this update:
On January 10, 2010, GenTeam went online with approximately 1.3 million entries (index of Roman Catholic marriages of Vienna, several indices for Lower Austria, owners of building plots in Lower Austria, gazetteer for Austria, Bohemia, Moravia and Slovenia). Today, more than 20.6 million records are already online. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all those who have contributed to this success.

The number of registered and active users has also been growing continually, currently there are approximately 53.000 users. They all benefit from free access to all data without having to pay any membership fees.

If you are unsure about the exact spelling of the name of a person or a location, you can also enter partial names in all of GenTeam’s databases. Enter only the part you are sure about. The autocomplete function is therefore an easy solution to solving the problems of variations in orthography!

Details on this update
1 Military – Austro-Hungarian casualty lists of World War I:

Already 2 million records online!

The casualty lists enumerate the wounded and killed soldiers as well as the prisoners of war of all Crown Lands of the Habsburg monarchy. In their entirety, these lists will hold approximately 3 to 3.5 million names. They include officers and one-year volunteers, but also subordinated military personnel of all denominations, including Jewish, Muslim and Protestant soldiers.

Besides many lists that have already been entered completely, a great number of partial lists is also online. In addition, 200 further lists are currently in progress.

Several collaborators of this project prefer to remain unnamed. I would therefore like to sincerely thank all those who have contributed to this important database, all those who are already working on further lists, as well as Frank Raschka for managing this project.

I would like to invite you to participate in this fascinating project. If you are interested please contact the project manager Frank Raschka at verlustliste@gmail.com or kontakt@GenTeam.at. We will then send you a sample entry table and assign you a list number.

2 New: Obituaries of “Neues Wiener Tagblatt”

Besides the major daily papers from the monarchy (Pester Lloyd, Neue Freie Presse, Wiener Tagblatt), many further newspapers printed obituaries for deceased persons belonging to the middle class.

In this update we have added entries for the years 1884-1889, 1919 and 1920.

I would like to sincerely thank ADir Mireille Trauner for this database!

3 Vienna – Roman Catholic baptisms

more than 2 million entries already online.

Records have been added for the parishes of 03 Landstrasse, 08 Alservorstadt Gebäranstalt, 15 Reindorf and 18 Währing. The numbers indicate the respective district of Vienna.
